Adapting to the actual student-on-campus life!

Back on campus, now what?

A few weeks ago we were all thrilled to hear that we don’t have to wear masks around campus anymore. No longer having to deal with being exhausted from that suffocation feeling. With that came a few other changes as well – teaching and learning have moved back to contact classes and campus is busy, busy, busy. Lecture halls are filled with students, campus pathways are full of life, and even the queue in the student center is longer! But…this is how it has always been before COVID-19. There is so much student vibrancy and it is best to catch up with the atmosphere for a positive second semester.

Are you adapting to the changes?

The majority of students are finally on campus for the very first time while others are excited to be back on campus. The transition from online to contact classes has a huge impact on everyone. It can be very exciting and difficult at the same time to be in a lecture hall when you have been used to the comforts of your own home. Adapting to environments may be overwhelming but no one has to go through the experience alone, just as our motto says, It All Starts Here.

Who can help you?

The North-West University (NWU) has services on all three campuses that are open to all students and staff members. You do not have to be alone when you are going through life’s challenges. Being a student is a journey, it might not always be smooth sailing but being vigilant and being able to adapt to change will be your saving grace. Remember: everyone moves at their own pace.

When you feel overwhelmed visit The Student Counseling and Development (SCD) which renders professional service to students by professional members of staff qualified in psychology, counseling, social work, and psychometry. The SCD is there for anyone who needs a guiding hand and a safe place to share any concerns.

What services can you find?

Sometimes you may not even be aware that you are struggling until you feel that everything is moving too fast and in different directions. It can be hard to experience this but it can be a lot harder if you have no one to share your thoughts with. If you are experiencing problems with adapting to the course or classes you are attending, the SCD is offering services in career and course counseling. Are you perhaps feeling depressed and everything is beyond your control? Psychological and social work services are also available at the SCD. Any kind of help you need, NWU is here for you. All you need is to take a single step and take charge to maintain a positive lifestyle.
