The Research Unit for Self-Directed Learning(SDL) at the North-West University is pleased to announce the 6th International Self-Directed Learning Conference which will be held from 1 to 3 November 2023. The theme of the conference is “Self-directed learning: Towards critical thinking and reflection”. A major goal of the SDL research unit is to develop strategies for diverse contexts which can lead to the development of self-directed learning skills and extend the body of work on self-directed learning internationally and in Africa as part of its research unit focusing on self-directed learning in all education sectors. This conference will be hosted at Pecan Manor Boutique Conference & Function Venue, Hartbeespoort, South Africa – Located 45 minutes outside of Pretoria, Johannesburg, and Rustenburg, Pecan Manor is the ideal venue to host our conference away from the city.
Conference Cost:
- Full Conference (1- 3 November): R4 935.00
- Daily Attendance: R1 385 per day
- Gala Dinner optional (2 November): R699.00
Please note: Accommodation and transport are not included. Kindly arrange your own accommodation.
The event will be a face-to-face conference and NWU invites researchers to submit proposals for presentations.
Here are submission Guidelines:
• Abstracts should be between 300 – 400 words and must clearly state the purpose,
methodology, findings, and implications of the study.
• Please include the title, author(s) name, affiliation, and contact information in your submission.
Accepted abstracts will be presented orally during the conference and papers can be uploaded via the following link: http://surl.li/iuefe
