For only three minutes, you have the chance to pitch the importance of your research only on one slide! The rules are simple, there is no use of jargon words but the language must be appropriate to an intelligent but non-expert audience. The Three Minute Thesis competition calls out all Master’s and PhD students and graduates to participate by presenting and showing research communication skills only for 180 seconds!
Master’s and PhD students you have until 20 July 2022 to submit your abstracts and videos for an evaluation. This is only the beginning of the greatness of the competition, and who knows if the next winner could be you. This is a unique opportunity to celebrate and share your innovative research, presentation, and research communication skills.
It does not end there! The successful winners of the North-West University’s Institutional Competition will move forward to the National Competition hosted by the University of the Free State.

In 2021, the North-West University hosted the first competition, and the winners presented below effortlessly participated and represented North-West University. However, it is the inspiration of the 2021 winners that resulted in the University celebrating the second competition.
