The North-West University is excited to welcome you back in 2020. As you may have learned in previous years, just after you got settled in nicely, the first and most important step to resume your studies is to register!
All students are required to pay the necessary fees in order to register each year. Online registrations will be open for all campuses from 08 January to 31 January 2020.
Only after registration can you start attending class.
Make your 2020 registration easier by paying your minimum payable fees into the University’s bank accounts in advance (December 2019 or January 2020). Also make sure that your outstanding 2019 university account is fully settled, as you will not be allowed to register for 2020 if any 2019 fees are outstanding.
There are two ways to register as a student at the NWU:
- Web Registration
What exactly does web registration involve? Registering online is a fast and user-friendly way to complete the registration process electronically. During the online registration process, you will be asked to provide an email address for corresponding with the University – if registering for the first time, you may use any email address you like.
The great advantage of web registration is that you get to avoid the crazy queues that students spend hours lining up in for traditional counter registration.

- Counter Registration
We encourage students to make use of web registrations and the DIY add & drop service, however, if you want to register at the counter, you are more than welcome. Follow this link to get more information about counter registrations on each campus:
- Master and Doctoral Students
If you are registering for your Master’s or Doctor’s degree, follow this link for the specific guidelines to help you through the registration process.
The only thing left to say is: don’t stress it! Yes, thousands of students will register within the course of only a few days, but you will be guided through the process every step of the way. You will never be left to your own devices, that is a promise!
