Registering at the NWU is easy peasy!

Registering at the NWU is easy peasy!

By now you’ve already received your NWU student number and your accommodation has (hopefully) been sorted out too. Now the most important thing lying ahead of you – except for showing up, of course – is to register as a student. Only after registration can you start attending class. If you don’t register, you’re nothing more than a runaway playing an expensive trick on your parents. Students on all three campuses can start the registration process on the NWU’s website from 21 January.

Don’t fret if you have never registered online before because you will not be left to your own devices! This is a guided process and your house committee and academic student association will be right next to you every step of the way, from the moment you arrive on campus. To ensure that registration proceeds as smoothly as possible, no sport or arts activities will be allowed during this period.

There are two ways to register as a student at the NWU:

1. Web Registration

What exactly does web registration involve? Registering online is a fast and user-friendly way to complete the registration process electronically. During the online registration process, you will be asked to provide an email address for corresponding with the University – if registering for the first time, you may use any email address you like.

The great advantage of web registration is that you get to avoid the crazy queues that students spend hours lining up in for traditional counter registration.

If you have not registered by 21 January 2019, or you require additional assistance, help will be available on each campus on the below dates.

Potchefstroom Campus: 22 and 23 January 2019. Please refer to your R&O Guide or the relevant Academic Student Association (ASA) for information on the various locations for web registrations.

Mafikeng Campus: 22 and 23 January 2019 at the “Great Hall”

Vaal Triangle Campus: 23, 24 and 25 January at Buildings 9A, 103, 104, G20

2. Counter Registration

Counter registration is scheduled to take place on the below dates:

Potchefstroom Campus: 22, 23 and 24 January at the Joon van Rooy Building (F1)

Mafikeng Campus: 22, 23 and 24 January at the “Great Hall”

Vaal Triangle Campus: 22, 23 and 24 January at Registration Buildings 24 and 25

The only thing left to say is: don’t stress it! Yes, thousands of students will register within the course of only a few days, but you will be guided through the process every step of the way. You will never be left to your own devices, that is a promise!
