Our first priority is your health and well being

All of us occasionally feel a little under the weather, whether from that horrible flu virus, an upset tummy, or a more serious medical emergency catches you off-guard on campus. You as well as your parents can rest assured knowing that each of the three NWU campuses has its own health centre, ensuring that you will be fit as a fiddle – and well enough to focus on student life – in no time.

All types of health issues – from physical to psychological, from acute to chronic – are treated by a dedicated team of multidisciplinary experts. Consultation appointments can be made by phone, though, walk-in patients are also welcomed.

All students are offered the following free services:

  • Providing birth control and prenatal services, as prescribed and provided by the Department of Health
  • Voluntary counselling and testing of HIV/Aids (VCT)
  • Health guidance, promotion, and education
  • Emergency care
  • Community Services
  • Career Healthcare
  • Screening – blood pressure, blood sugar, pregnancy test, weighing

Students with, as well as students without medical aid are welcome to use the services provided by our health centres. Consultations are offered at a minimum fee.
